Mine Runner is a nod to crypto mining, giving users the ability to mine in a cave system to earn NFTs and tokens while using their own personal NFT avatar. Armed with a pickaxe, players must face the creature-inhabited caverns to mine for valuable resources while defending themselves from enemies.

While working as a game designer on Mine Runner, I held a pivotal role in shaping the game's overall experience. My responsibilities included crafting various encounters within each sector of the game, encompassing the design of player abilities, the creation and setup of traps and the orchestration of combat encounters with formidable creatures. Collaborating closely with the art team, I assisted in designing each of the five biomes present in the game, helping to establish their unique themes and ensuring they seamlessly aligned with the creatures that inhabited them. I also determined the most effective methods of rewarding players throughout their adventure, designing reward structures such as the distribution of chests and ways in which both free and crafted axes would grant rewards.
I was responsible for designing player abilities, crafting and strategically placing traps and setting up encounters with both nonhostiles and creatures. I worked with animators to create unique attack variations for each creature, adding depth and excitement to the game's encounters. My work aimed to provide players with engaging challenges while maintaining a sense of balance and excitement throughout their journey in the mines.
I collaborated with the art team to help craft each of the five distinct biomes that players can explore throughout the game. I created design sheets to outline the specific props, lighting schemes and creatures unique to each biome. Additionally, I designed the biome and sector select options and worked closely with UI artists to implement them into the game.
I designed reward structures to ensure a satisfying sense of progress and achievement. This includes the design and strategic placement of chests throughout each biome to offer players incentives to explore. I created the reward stucture for crafted axes by designing bonuses for each of their unique traits. I also refined the mining loop flow for both free and crafted axes.
